Easing into the World of Digitized Welding

WeldCube Air solution for complex welding challenges

Fronius' cloud-based software solution brings transparency to welding operations and grants a clear overview of welding certificates and welding procedure specifications (WPS) at all times. It is a quick and straightforward way for companies to benefit from digitalization and helps with quality assurance and resource efficiency.

Small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) are under more pressure than ever to deliver quality in compliance with the applicable standards, while still being able to work economically and efficiently. “Compliance with standards usually involves a lot of bureaucracy. In addition, any potential for optimization should be identified and quickly implemented without disrupting day-to-day operations in order to remain competitive,” says Joachim Böck, Strategic Product Manager at Fronius International. “Our WeldCube Air platform takes the strain off welding specialists, freeing up their time and providing them with a well-structured and particularly user-friendly tool.”

No more paperwork

WeldCube Air assists welding supervisors with managing and updating welding certificates. Everything is brought together in one place and managed digitally, allowing supervisors to call up the current qualification status of individual welders at any time. It is a quick and straightforward way for companies to start benefitting from digitalization and helps with quality assurance and resource efficiency. Certifications that are soon to expire are flagged so that they can be renewed on time.

WPS-compliant welding

It is not easy to keep track of all the welding procedure specifications, update them continuously and ensure their correct application. However, this is the only way to fulfill all the verification obligations. Thanks to its search function, WeldCube Air provides welding supervisors with clarity and an overview of this slew of documents. Standard-compliant parameter sets (jobs) can be prepared with ease and rolled out to the entire welding machine fleet at the click of a button. This allows welders to quickly find the correct settings for the WPS-compliant welding task, reducing the risk of errors. The valuable time saved overall can be invested in activities like optimizing processes.

Data transparency prepares welding companies for the future

The WeldCube Air platform is much more than a digital store for WPS documents, operating instructions and spare parts lists. It also allows for the centralized management of all intelligent Fronius welding machines, such as by rolling out regular updates with a single click. In addition the software provides a clear overview of all relevant welding-related key figures retrospectively for 30 days. Optimization potential can be derived from this data. Time, energy and material efficiency are particularly important in this respect, which is why it is worth taking a closer look at parameters like the average wire consumption or the arc switch-on time. The evaluations can be defined as required, such as for an individual welding machine, a shift, or the entire machine fleet.

Easy installation on any device

Thanks to innovative cloud technology, the digital solution does not require complex installation and is ready for immediate use. The user simply needs to connect the Fronius welding system to WeldCube Air via the Internet. No extra software is required. An overview of the welding performance of individual devices or the entire welding machine fleet is instantly created –  from a PC, tablet or smartphone. Fronius ensures certified security (ISO/IEC 27001) and protects the stored data in accordance with strict European data protection directives.

Minimal effort for full transparency

“We have looked closely at the needs of our customers and focused on what is essential for their day-to-day work. The effort required to go digital should be as low as possible, but the benefits should be all the greater to allow them to fully exploit the potential of our high-end welding machines, without any major investment or risk,” concludes Böck. The WeldCub Air is currently avilable for all TPS/i and iWave models and will also be compatible with future digital Fronius series.
