Summit of Industry 4.0 pragmatists
The focus of the programme at the Open Source Summit 2024 of the IndustryFusion Foundation is the official presentation of the latest release of the IndustryFusion open-source networking solution in the new IndustryFusion DemoLab. This is the foundation for the market launch of the first IndustryFusion enterprise versions for vendor-independent networking in industrial production systems.
More than 10 years ago, the German government and trade associations launched the Industry 4.0 platform. Among other things, a technically and scientifically sound description was provided of the conditions under which cross-vendor networking of the shopfloor can be realized. The focus was also always on the new areas of added value the industry could achieve with holistic networking. The concept made waves around the world and the term Industry 4.0 has become synonymous with digitalization in production. However, practical implementations, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises, are still rare – even in larger production companies, implementations are currently characterized by isolated solutions that have been tailored to the respective application.
IndustryFusion is aimed in particular at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
Against this backdrop, a consortium of medium-sized companies from the metalworking industry began launching the standardized and vendor-independent open source networking solution IndustryFusion in 2020: On its basis, factory operators can network their production, machines and plant manufacturers can digitalize their products and providers of digital services can offer their services via a standardized platform. Simple implementation is a key component of the solution: only then will companies of all sizes – explicitly including SMEs – be able to intelligently digitalize production and products and reap the benefits of shopfloor networking.
Strong IT partners get on board: Intel, SUSE, IONOS and Dell
The IndustryFusion Foundation's Open Source Summit 2024 takes place on Thursday, May 16: The focus of the program is the official presentation of the latest release of the IndustryFusion open source networking solution in the new IndustryFusion DemoLab in Bad Wörishofen, Bavaria. The system with integrated IF Process Data Twin already provides the most important basis for the market launch of the first IndustryFusion enterprise versions. "We are implementing Industry 4.0 in a very pragmatic way: IndustryFusion will be a game changer on the way to digitalization, especially for small and medium-sized companies – at our Open Source Summit we will inform about the current state of the technology and make all its advantages tangible for users," says Igor Mikulina, President of the Board of Trustees of the IndustryFusion Foundation.
At the event will be a lot of information about IndustryFusion (IF): E. g. why IF can be implemented particularly easily in industrial production and thus allows companies of all sizes to intelligently digitalize production and products. Or how the use of the latest, highly innovative technology can be used to provide conclusive answers to aspects such as safety and security. IT partners such as Intel, IONOS, SUSE and Dell will explain the decisive contribution they make to the creation of the IF-X cross-vendor data room. And machine manufacturers, software developers and banking partners such as Sopra Steria will show how new business models and concrete value-added scenarios are already developed on this basis.
Venue: The IndustryFusion Foundation's new Industry 4.0 DemoLab
The Open Source Summit 2024 will take place at the CompetenceCenter South of MicroStep Europa GmbH in Bad Wörishofen, Bavaria. This is also where the IndustryFusion Foundation's new Industry 4.0 DemoLab is located. In the model factory, visitors can experience live the added value that cross-vendor networked production offers in application.
The event is supported by IT companies such as Intel, SUSE, Dell, IONOS, Monitor ERP and Sopra Steria, as well as TÜV Süd, scientific and research institutions such as the University of Augsburg, Fraunhofer IGCV Augsburg and the AI Production Network Augsburg. The supporters also include important clusters such as the Association for Welding Technology and Related Processes (DVS), the Lab Network Industrie 4.0 (LNI 4.0), the trade fair SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN (Messe Essen) and the Bavarian Society for Innovation and Knowledge Transfer mbH (Bayern Innovativ).
