CellMAT 2024. 8th International Conference on Cellular Materials

The 8th International Conference on Cellular Materials – CellMAT will be held from 27 - 29 November 2024 as a hybrid conference (on-site & online), for the first time, in Magdeburg, Germany. We are more than happy to announce ‘Festung Mark’ as the conference venue, an old advocacy fortress built in the 19th century for defense purposes of the city of Magdeburg, and located in the immediate vicinity of the University of Magdeburg.

CellMAT is a biennial conference where scientists from materials scientists, physicists, chemists, process engineers, mechanical engineers and designers exchange the latest research results on cellular materials. The conference gains its special significance through its unique inclusion of all material classes from metallic and ceramic materials to polymers and composite materials, and thus, includes different aspects of a fascinating class of materials and is an exceptional cross-disciplinary and inspiring discussion forum for industry, non-university institutions and academia.

Over the years cellular materials have found their way into numerous applications as functional and construction materials, ranging from tasks in energy and thermal management to biomedical applications and catalytic conversion, just to name a few. CellMAT 2024 will therefore place a particular focus on application-relevant work. In addition, fundamental aspects of cellular materials will, of course, a broad area.

International experts will give keynote/invited lectures about applications in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, energy conversion, mechanical engineering, chemical systems, and environmental purposes. In this conference, digitalization and data handling of cellular materials is included, and, even if our community relays on experiments and simulation, we feel that this new topic is a must to be implemented.

As a special agenda item a seminar for young researchers will be held on Tuesday, 26 November, a day before the conference starts. Master students and PhD students are cordially invited to attend this seminar; two interactive talks will be given by experts dealing with preparation strategies and with cellular structure characterization; the attendees are encouraged to discuss their specific issues and challenges with cellular matter. And: best three posters will be awarded during the conference.
